James A Harpster, previously of State School, handed away Friday, Aug. 21, 2020, at Valley View Retirement Group in Belleville, along with his daughter, JoAnn (Daddy’s Little Lady) holding his hand.
Jim was born Nov. 28, 1929, in Lewistown, to the late Herbert E. and Lucille (Peters) Harpster. On Oct. 28, 1950, Jim married the love of his life, Theresa A. (Allison Ward) Harpster, who survives.
Additionally surviving are Jim and Theresa’s thee youngsters, JoAnn R. Lew (John Cocolin), of State School, Michael E Harpster (Tyra), of Manassas, VA and Keith A Harpster (Kim), of Damascus, MD; seven grandchildren typically sought their Pap’s recommendation on life’s adventures, reached out to listen to him sing certainly one of their favourite songs and loved time with him outside or watching sporting occasions.
As Outdated Pappy, he was blessed to have 10 great-grandchildren, the youngest arriving simply two months in the past. Pap/Pappy/Outdated Pappy was past happy with all of them.

Upon his return to PA, his was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad in Enola and later with Bell and Verizon Phone Corporations, serving faithfully for over 30 years previous to retiring in 1985.
His need for journey was happy by touring Bermuda, Jamaica, Hawaii, quite a few PSU Bowl recreation appearances and Woman Lion Basketball Tournaments.
Jim and Theresa launched into a cross nation street journey, northern route out and southern on the return. The final word vacation spot was California to spend time with household residing there at the moment. He and Theresa are honorary lifetime members of the Woman Lion Basketball Boosters.
He loved his years of service and membership with the Newtown Fireplace Firm, the Greenlee Looking Membership and the Verizon Pioneers.
Jim was robust in his religion and served in numerous layman positions within the Presbyterian Church together with Elder. Jamboree within the Hills was a favourite vacation spot to occasion with associates and get his fill of nation music and dancing. After all, Theresa was at all times at his aspect. Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman, typically along with his sons, Mike and Keith.
Lore has it that Jim was dragging a buck again to Camp Greenlee and a recreation warden discovered 2 turkeys within the chest cavity. Jim’s response, “I’m glad I shot that buck or he would have eaten the entire flock of turkey.”
