U Kon Echelon Bike Membership hosted the Porter Creek Secondary College Trails Cross-Nation Mountain Bike Race on Oct. 4 in Whitehorse.

A complete of 23 riders competed on the day, with older rivals racing 9 kilometres and youthful racers driving 2.5 km.

Issues obtained underway on an overcast, cool morning in Porter Creek with the longer race that includes 10 riders in 4 classes.

Cole Germain set the tempo with a time of half-hour and 11 seconds, ending first general and first within the U17 boys class.

Ava Irving-Staley completed second general, and first within the U17 ladies class, with a time of half-hour and 29 seconds.

Alex Brown completed second within the U17 boys class with a time of 33 minutes and 22 seconds. Nathan Boulanger additionally raced within the U17 boys class however withdrew due to technical issues, and Seth Falle additionally didn’t end.

Within the U15 boys class, 5 racers competed.

Taiga Buurman gained with a time of 34 minutes and 42 seconds, adopted by Trustan Boulanger second in 37 minutes and one second, and Gallagher D’Abramo third in 37 minutes and 56 seconds. Rian Strand completed fourth in 40 minutes and 20 seconds.

Jack Younger completed third within the U11 boys class with a time of 12 minutes and 25 seconds.

Taking second spot within the U9 boys class was Oskar Luxemburger with a time of 10 minutes and 53 seconds, with Sam Boucher ending third in 11 minutes and three seconds.

The quickest woman within the race was Rose Preto who gained the U9 ladies class with a time of 13 minutes and 25 seconds.

Within the U7 boys class, Rowan Evans edged out Callum Fischer for the win. Evans completed in 16 minutes and 47 seconds, whereas Fischer completed in 20 minutes and 43 seconds.

4-year-old Rylan Morris completed first within the U5 ladies class with a time of 16 minutes and 45 seconds.

Rounding out the outcomes, Gabe Coderre completed first within the novice class with a time of 11 minutes and 30 seconds.

Organizers stated the hope is to carry a 3rd cross-country mountain bike race later this month with a Halloween theme.
